PAY RANGE:  Annual Salary: $170,289.60 to $208,145.60 (Based on a 40 hour work week)

Established in 2023, CommuniCare+OLE is the result of a union of two health centers with a deep roots in their respective communities and reputations for providing high-quality primary care to all, regardless of insurance or ability to pay: OLE Health of Napa and Solano Counties and CommuniCare Health Centers of Yolo County. Building on a legacy established by both organizations in 1972, CommuniCare+OLE is a network of federally-qualified health centers with 17 sites across Napa, Solano, and Yolo Counties. It offers comprehensive care, including medical, dental, behavioral health and substance use treatment, nutrition, optometry, pharmacy, care coordination, referrals, and enrollment assistance to more than 70,000 individuals, and no one is turned away due to lack of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay. Many services are offered outside of its sites, including mobile health, home visiting, and community and school-based programs.

JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW: 

The Dentist will be primarily responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health center setting. The Dentist will also participate in additional duties that promote dental awareness and further health promotion in the community.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS/TRAINING 

  1. Education:  
Must have a DDS or DMD from an accredited school of dentistry or MSD and 1 year of clinical experience 
  1. Experience/Lived Experience:  
  • 1 year of clinical experience preferred. 
  • Experience working with patients of all ages, with the ability to provide comprehensive dental care preferred.  
  1. Special Skills/Training:  
  • Must be licensed to practice dentistry in the State of California.  
  • Current CPR certification and DEA registration required. 
  • Must maintain CEUs as required for license renewal. 

 

 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

1.  Demonstrate mission, vision, and values while working on a dental care team to provide quality dental care to patients. 
2.  Evaluate, diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases, disorders and conditions of the oral cavity, the craniomaxillofacial area and the adjacent structures and their impact on the human body in conformance with clinical guidelines and evidence-based dentistry. 
3.  Provide all aspects of general dental services based on the organization’s scope of practice and ensure maximized access to care for patients while maintaining quality care. 
4.  Educate patients on treatment options including risks, alternatives, and benefits of specific treatments. 
5.  Achieve and maintain a high level of competency in clinical dentistry with the emphasis on pediatric dentistry, emergency dental treatment, restorative, extractions, fixed and removable prosthodontics, root canals, and prevention of oral disease. 
6.  Review medical and dental history past notes, and update patient records as needed. Completes comprehensive documentation of patient dental records using best practices in a timely manner. 
7.  Provide appropriate written referrals, prescription, and treatment consent when necessary. 
8.  Educate and motivate individuals and their families towards prevention of oral disease by completing risks assessments and goal setting. 
9.  Follows workflows, procedures and policy to ensure efficient clinic flow and patient experience.  
10.  Consistently meets quality and production goals set for clinic. 
11.  Comply fully with all applicable federal, state, local, and dental clinic rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry, as well as those relating to personnel issues, workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality. 
12.  Assist in the orientation and training of auxiliaries and other dental staff. 
13.  Attend dental staff meetings and any other required meetings. 
14.  Cooperate fully in any risk management activity or investigation. 
15.  Assist in the ongoing development and implementation of performance-improvement initiatives to support organization and departmental goals. 
16.  Maintain a team approach to dentistry by assisting other dentists and staff as necessary to allow for efficiency, patient flow, and quality of dental care. 
17.  Participate and assist with the coordination outreach programs. 
18.  Participate in monthly peer review to provide constructive feedback to fellow dentists. 
19.  Performs other duties as assigned to achieve organization and program goals and objectives.
