JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW: Reports directly to the designated Adult Substance Use Programs Manager. Provide individual and group counseling to clients in SUD treatment programs. Emphasizes supportive, nonjudgmental care, preventive care, health education and community referrals to address the broad spectrum of health and psycho-social concerns of clients served. | |||

Experience/Lived Experience: | Experience working in a substance use/mental health treatment field. |
Special Skills/Training: | Valid registration with an approved California substance use disorder certifying agency such as CCAPP, CADTP.Bilingual – Spanish/English strongly preferred. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).BLS Certification required.Drivers License required |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. | Support BH Clinicians in screening assessment and enrollment for adult clients using substances utilizing ASAM assessment and risk tools |
2. | Complete documentation within 48-hours of services in accordance with working hours, all documentation must comply with Medi-Cal, payor, and/or contractual guidelines. |
3. | Respond to calls, emails, and other correspondence from internal and external partners in a timely and professional manner. |
4. | Conducts group and individual therapy utilizing evidence-based models of care |
5. | Works with clients to establish long- and short-term goals. Specialist is responsible for detecting emotional, psychological, and physical danger signals. Specialist is non-judgmental and offers feedback and support to clients. Engages clients in treatment by supporting and monitoring progress, providing limited case management, and communicating with referring agencies. |
6. | Responsible for explaining and re-enforcing all rules and regulations associated with SUD Programs. |
7. | Monitor charts to ensure the timely placement of all correspondence, completes all screening and data collection tools according to protocol and best practices. Supports with data collection and reporting. |
8. | Responsible for working with CPS, Drug Court, Parole, Probation and other agencies to case manage clients as directed by supervisor. |
9. | Attend clinical supervision and weekly staff meetings. Attend training/conferences as arranged. |
10. | Maintain confidentiality and the privacy of protected health information unless permission is provided, or a situation warrants disclosure (e.g. mandated report, safety) |
11. | Must have ability to manage priorities and workflow. Required to have versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and have acute attention to detail. |
12. | Maintain regular working hours and maintain an accurate calendar reflective of tasks and services |
13. | Required to have the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and with external customers. |
