Land Acknowledgments

Davis and Woodland

We would like to acknowledge the land on which our health centers are built and on which we live, work and serve our community. For thousands of years, this land has been the home of Patwin people. The Patwin people have remained committed to the stewardship of this land for many centuries. Much Yolo County land has also been shared by the Miwok people. We are honored and grateful to be here today on their traditional lands.

West Sacramento

We acknowledge the Nisenan people are still here among us today, though they are nearly invisible, and their story continues to be excluded from history. We understand we are on Nisenan land that was never ceded, and the original tribal families have yet to recover from the near genocide of their people. As residents and visitors in Nisenan land, we stand beside the Nisenan people and their right to sovereignty, self-governance and self-determination through the stabilization of their people, homelands and culture.
