New Health Center Will Expand Access to Preventative Care,
Chronic Disease Management, and Acute Care Services
Fairfield, CA – May 19, 2025 – Today, CommuniCare+OLE announced the opening of a third primary care location on Travis Blvd. in Fairfield. The nearly 3,000-square-foot facility has six exam rooms and will provide care for more than 3,300 patients per year who rely on Medi-Cal or who lack insurance coverage, increasing access to much-needed primary care medical services, including preventative care and chronic disease management. The new facility will join existing sites on B. Gale Wilson Blvd. and Chadborne Road.
“CommuniCare+OLE has been proudly serving the Fairfield community since 2015, but even with our two existing health centers, it has not been enough to meet the need,” said Alicia Hardy, CEO of CommuniCare+OLE. “Right now, we care for about 8,000 Fairfield residents, many of whom rely on Medi-Cal for their health coverage and have very few options for care. This new facility will allow us to expand access to critical primary care services, including preventative services, acute care, and chronic disease management, to more Fairfield residents and better serve this community.”
The new facility, which will be located at 1313 Travis Blvd, Suite A, will offer medical care, including acute care services and chronic disease management, prenatal care, laboratory services, care coordination, enhanced care managements, and vaccination. Led by CommuniCare+OLE’s Medical Director for Solano County, Dr. Marikit Parker, Travis Blvd. will be staffed by three providers: Kathleen Sianghio, DNP, CNM, Mahem Javed, PA-C, and Micahela Tricola, PA-C.
Access to quality primary care services, particularly for individuals who rely on Medi-Cal, is a challenge in Fairfield. Currently, there are 40,000 low-income patients in Fairfield who need more consistent care. Without access to healthcare close to home, many defer or delay treatment, which can lead to unmanaged chronic conditions, higher utilization of emergency rooms, missed preventative screenings, and children who aren’t current on immunizations and well-child visits. The result is a less healthy population and higher healthcare costs for all.
Recognizing this need, Partnership HealthPlan of California, a non-profit community-based health care organization that helps administer Medi-Cal benefits in the region, provided $300,000 in funding to help CommuniCare+OLE open the site.
“Access to primary care in Fairfield is a challenge, so the creation of new facilities, like this one from CommuniCare+OLE, makes a tremendous difference in ensuring our members can get access to the medical services they need,” said Sonja Bjork, CEO of Partnership. “We are proud to help support this crucial project right here in Fairfield and look forward to working with CommuniCare+OLE to build a healthier Fairfield community.”
This project is the next step in nearly a decade’s work by CommuniCare+OLE to improve the health and wellbeing of residents of Fairfield, Suisun, and the surrounding areas. CommuniCare+OLE opened its first health center in Fairfield on Chadborne Road in 2015, and its second health center across from NorthBay Hospital in 2018. In total, CommuniCare+OLE’s two sites experience more than 43,000 patient visits annually, with 90% relying on Medi-Cal and 84% living at or below 200% of the federal poverty line.
In 2021, CommuniCare+OLE purchased the building on Chadborne Road, moving many administrative functions to Fairfield, signaling its intention to deepen its work in the community. In 2022, CommuniCare+OLE began monthly food distribution at the Fairfield Adult School, offering free food to anyone who needs it in the community. Each month, roughly 2000 pounds of food are distributed to 200 families and individuals. In 2023, the CommuniCare+OLE mobile health team began providing regular free services at Anne Kyle Elementary School in Fairfield and the Family Resource Center in Suisun City to help improve access for low-income families and individuals.
