Trinchero Family Estates to Be Honored with John Shafer Visionary Award and Proceeds to Support Capital Campaign for a new Up Valley Health Center
NAPA, CA – May 8, 2025 – The OLE Health Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 2025 dates for its annual Vida OLE fundraising event benefiting Napa County’s only network of non-profit community health centers, which provides health care to Napa’s essential workers. This year’s event will be held September 18 – 20, 2025, at venues throughout the Valley and will honor Trinchero Family Estates with the prestigious John Shafer Visionary Award. Proceeds from Vida OLE! will support the Foundation’s $12 million capital campaign to fund the construction of a primary care hub to serve the entire Up Valley community.
“Our Up Valley friends and neighbors have incredibly limited options for basic health care services. For workers, like those working in vineyards, hotels, and restaurants, it’s challenging to find primary medical, dental and behavioral health services close to where they live and work. We are looking to change that” said Naoko Dalla Valle, OLE Health Foundation Board Chair. “We are close to reaching our fundraising goal to build a new, state-of-the-art health center for more than 10,000 residents of Napa County’s Up Valley communities, and we hope this year’s Vida OLE! events will get us over the finish line to make this new health center a reality.”
Visionaries Luncheon and Award
Vida OLE kicks off on Thursday, September 18, at Lawrence Wine Estates’ Burgess Cellars, with the invitation-only Visionaries Luncheon where the OLE Health Foundation will honor its most ardent supporters, including this year’s John Shafer Visionary Award winner, Trinchero Family Estates. The Trinchero family has donated nearly $3 million to support OLE Health in increasing access to healthcare in Napa Valley, including $2 million in funding from Louis & Evalyn Trinchero and Trinchero Family Estates for the Napa Valley Vintners South Napa Campus, and sizeable support when the North Napa Campus was built. Most recently, they pledged an additional $1 million to help fund the new CommuniCare+OLE Up Valley Campus.
“It is a tremendous honor to accept the John Shafer Visionary Award on behalf of the Trinchero family,” said Robert Torres, Principal, Vice Chairman & Director of Trinchero Family Estates. “Our roots run deep in this community, and we are proud to support the OLE Health Foundation and their unwavering commitment to ensuring everyone who lives and works in this incredible Valley has access to the health care they deserve.”
Named for vintner and OLE Health Foundation founder, John Shafer, the award recognizes individuals and organizations whose leadership, vision, and steadfast belief in – and support of – our mission have helped expand access to care for the people of Napa County. This is the third annual award. Past honorees include vintner Rick Jones and the Napa Valley Vintners.
Vintner Dinners and Auction
On Friday, September 19, a series of intimate vintner dinners will be held at some of the most celebrated wineries in Napa Valley, including Darioush, Dalla Valle Vineyards, and Aonair. Each will also feature stories from CommuniCare+OLE’s providers who serve on the front line caring for the community’s farmworkers, essential workers, senior citizens, children, and other vulnerable populations.
On Saturday, September 20, the weekend will culminate with a dinner and auction at Monte Olivos Estate in St. Helena. The evening will kick off with a “Sip and Savor Soiree,” featuring some of the region’s most celebrated wines, including Hensel West, Memento Mori, and Spottswoode, expertly paired with small bites from Goose and Gander, The Model Bakery, Under Study and Tre Posti. Over a sumptuous meal, crafted to celebrate the bounty of Napa Valley and highlight incredible wines from Dalla Valle Vineyards, Darioush, and Museion, noted auctioneer Fritz Hatton will lead a lively auction of intriguing lots consisting of once-in-a-lifetime experiences, luxurious getaways, sporting excursions, memorable dinners, rare wines, and more. Hot ticket items from years past, including an exclusive Women’s Luncheon and Men’s Dinner, will be back and better than ever. The evening will conclude with an exclusive afterparty featuring a DJ, dancing, drinks, and a dessert bar.
Passes are now on sale at olehealth.org/auction. An all-inclusive Weekend Pass is $1,750 per person ($1,150 tax-deductible), tickets to the Vida OLE Dinner & Auction are $1,000 per person ($750 tax-deductible). A limited number of sponsorships are available starting at $5,000.
The Cause
All proceeds from Vida OLE will go toward the construction of a new Up Valley Health Center, which will serve 10,000 residents who live in communities ranging from Yountville up through Calistoga and Lake County. Located in Calistoga, this 11,000 square-foot facility will offer access to comprehensive primary care services, including medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, care coordination, and more.
CommuniCare+OLE has been serving the Up Valley communities since being founded in Rutherford in 1972. Today, between two small clinics in St. Helena and Calistoga, the organization provides primary care services to 60% of the Up Valley population. However, the current facilities are inadequate to meet the demand. The new Up Valley Campus will more than double access to medical services for the community, from small children to older adults, and quadruple access to dental care.
The OLE Health Foundation has raised 72% of its $12 million fundraising goal for the campaign. This event will help bring this project to fruition.
Vida OLE is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, Mechanics Bank, The Doctors Company, American AgCredit, and Coblentz, Patch Duffy & Bass LLP, with generous support from Aonair, Burgess Cellars, Dalla Valle Vineyards, and Darioush Winery. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit olehealth.org/auction.
