About Eleanor
Dr. Vera Cruz started at Communicare+OLE in 2026. She received her DMD degree from the University of the Philippines, Manila in 2000. She brings 26 years of private dental practice expertise and a heart of service to every patient. A former Dental Hygiene Instructor at Foothill College in Los Altos, she specializes in preventative care and helping her patients build a lifelong foundation of dental health. Beyond the office, Dr. Vera Cruz is a dedicated global volunteer, providing essential care through dental missions, with the most recent one in Cambodia with Doctors Delivering Smiles. Whether mentoring in the classroom or caring for children at home and abroad, her mission remains the same: compassionate, excellence-driven dentistry.
My approach to care
I believe that the best dentistry is the kind that prevents problems before they start. My approach is evidence-based and preventative-first, focusing on empowering patients—especially my youngest ones—with the knowledge and tools to maintain a healthy smile for life. By combining the latest clinical research with a conservative treatment mindset, I strive to provide care that is as gentle as it is effective.
Why I went into healthcare
My commitment to my patients stems from the belief that everyone deserves access to a healthy life, no matter who they are or where they come from. I first felt called to this work after seeing how a single day of dental care could not only relieve a child’s chronic pain but completely restore their confidence. During my missionary work, I found a deep satisfaction in providing life-changing care to those who need it most. Being without access to a modern dental office and tools helped me learn what really matters – the health and comfort of my patients.
Something you might not know about me
When I’m not in the office, I’m likely playing “Dr. Travel Agent” for my husband, daughter, and friends. Whether we’re flying to a new destination or setting out on a road trip with our fur baby, Benny, I find so much happiness in the details of a well-planned journey. When I’m not searching for the best travel deals, you might find me tinkering around the house looking for my next DIY project – I love using my hands to improve a space. I also have a passion for sustainability, which I channel into a small bamboo toothbrush and floss business that I co-own with my best friend and fellow dentist. It’s our way of ensuring that our commitment to oral health is as kind to the planet as it is to our patients.
